It's now been two years since it's release, there is now a community of modders bent on making CoD playable through mods, and I am now considering getting it. Eventually Ubisoft gave up and quit support all together.
On release it was a disaster, with huge bugs, performance issues, and lack of patches over time.
It looked great, but for some reason I held back mainly because I had gotten bored with Il2, and also because it looked to good to be true, and my fears were founded. It not only looked more like the original but it seemed like it flew better as well.
So after I got WoP I had given up on any more Il2 titles, only to be proven wrong when Ubisoft announced Il2 Cliffs of Dover. Now I'm a fan of Ubisoft's Il2 Series, and loved 1946, but when I got Wings of Prey, it wasn't bad, but some things just rubbed me the wrong way, like the abandonment of realism for a more arcade focused experience, and it's abandonment of mod support (Old Il2 LOVED mods if you got a mod activator), and finally, It just did not have the same feel as Il2, a point proven to me when the new developer, Gaijin modified basically the same game into War-thunder, a Free MMO.
